Dear Colleagues,

The theme for this year’s inaugural conference on Safety and Security Research and Education is “Exploring a Regional Cooperation Framework.”

A conference co-hosted by the Pacific Rim Visualization and Analytics Center (PARVAC) and the Institute for National Security Education and Research (INSER) will be held on the UW campus October 30th to November 1st, 2008. We are pleased to have the support of the Jackson School of International Studies’ Center for Global Studies (CGS) and the UW Center for Information Assurance and Cybersecurity (CIAC). We appreciate the financial support from the Department of Homeland Security and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

More details will follow in the coming weeks. The conference will include keynote speakers, research presentations, and networking opportunities. We look forward to discussions about an emerging consortium of academic, public and private partners who are leading interdisciplinary research and education initiatives in the field of safety and security.

Feel free to pass this information on to anyone who may be interested. Additionally, please let me know of professional associations or organizations whose members should be invited. We are reaching out to industry leaders in the community as well.
